Each massage experience is different depending on the therapist, client and type of massage being performed. Some muscle soreness during a massage, especially in a deeper tissue massage, is normal. It is important to communicate with the therapist in regard to comfort level (pressure, draping) or any concerns you may have during the massage session.
| • | A session generally takes about 60 minutes. Arrive a few minutes earlier than your appointed time. If this is your first visit, you will be asked to fill out a medical history form. These few extra minutes will also allow you to catch your breath, and shift gears mentally and physically. |
| • | The massage will take place in a comfortable, private room on a padded table designed for massage. Quiet music will be playing and lighting will be soft. You may also request silence, if preferred. It is important to remove all jewelry including earrings, watches, necklaces, rings, etc. |
| • | The massage therapist will leave the room while you dress down into whatever is comfortable for you. Traditionally, all clothing is removed before lying on the massage table, where ample fresh linens provide complete modesty coverage. |
| • | The massage therapist will knock on your door and inquire if you are ready prior to re-entering the room. |
| • | You will be draped with fresh linen at all times only the areas being massaged will be exposed. |
| • | While talking is not necessary, feedback concerning discomfort or special problems, along with what feels especially good to you, is encouraged. |
| • | Only all-natural and/or organic cream is used during the massage. Flower essential oils are available upon request. |
| • | Focus on listening to the sensations of your body to optimize your relaxation experience and resulting therapeutic benefits. |
| • | At the conclusion of your session, the massage therapist will leave the room. During this time your body will still be experiencing the health benefits of the session. Allow a few minutes before getting up from the table. |
| • | Redress and remember to take all possessions you came with including jewelry, coats, keys, purses, etc. If possible, slowly ease into your next activity. |
| • | Drink plenty of water or other healthy fluids, especially during the 24-hours following your therapy session, to boost the elimination of toxins, increase your body's natural rejuvination processes and optimize the benefits of the massage. |
